Have you ever felt let down by a song, for instance you
assumed a song was about the bands spiritual journey but later on when you
googled the meaning of that song lyrics you find out it was about the bassist’s
dead cat?
Yes I know that example was too extreme to be believed but
there are times when your favorite love song was actually a song about the
artist’s drug addiction or that powerful death metal song you always headbang to was composed keeping the artists
ex-girlfriends memories in mind.
At such times, all your feelings attached to that song get disconnected and you never get that same kick out of that song like you used to because at such times your reality about that song is changed suddenly. The song riffs and lyrics stir up an emotional reaction inside everyone and those emotions are decoded differently by different people. There is no need to look at the song from the artist’s point of view.
Hence I suggest you
listeners to stop trying to find out the literal meaning of the lyrics and just
enjoy the song the way you feel about it.
